THE CHRONICLES OF A BOHO BRIDE: FRENCH VINTAGE WEDDING

chronicles of a boho bride-issue 3 cover

Bonjour, mademoiselle! The third issue of The Chronicles of a Boho Bride is stepping back in time for a supremely vintage, French-inspired wedding inspiration. Think Marie Antoinette meets an Indian princess: totally unusual and totally unique! A few months ago, I was invited to collaborate with some amazing vendors on this shoot- and it was such an honor not only to create a full stationery set for the shoot but also being there on the day, seeing it all happen (you have no idea how long everything takes- lighting, make-up, outfit changes,…!)! The designer of the shoot- Azizan from Design House Decor– wanted to do a period-inspired styled shoot and asked me to create a set of watercolor wedding stationery. I mean, yes and million times yes! The whole set was simply magical and this might sound really strange, but…it smelled absolutely amazing there because there were thousands of pink roses everywhere. The shoot was done in collaboration with South Asian Bride Magazine, who are featuring it in their magazine…with the print version coming out in just a few short weeks!

The incredibly talented Jose Ortiz made a video of the shoot, so go ahead and see this shoot in 3D:

I created a traditional invitation suite, which included a gold foil lined envelope, an invitation and an rsvp card. In addition, I decided to have some fun and create two extra cards that were in the spirit of the shoot. “High Tea” card featured a handpainted tea pot filled with flowers and “Let us eat cake” with a painted wedding cake was a play on Marie Antoinette’s famous phrase “Let them eat cake.” I decided to change the phrase a bit to avoid the political charge of the original quote and instead, I wanted to capture the fun of weddings (hey, let’s ALL just eat cake!). The final piece of stationery I created was a set of handpainted, floral-inspired menu cards. It was a blast to paint these pieces!
