Personal update: My maternity pictures!

bohemian maternity session

I am not a person who makes huge New Year’s resolution lists. Instead, I like to pick a word that defines the energy of what I want to cultivate in the upcoming year. Yes, I am a little woo-woo that way. So, on December 31, 2016, I announced to my family and friends that my chosen word for 2017 was “flourish”. And the very next day, on January 1st, I found out that I was pregnant. And I realized that the word I picked for this year was going to be very fitting. 🙂

From early on, I knew that I wanted to get my maternity pictures taken. I am a person that it absolutely horrible at taking family memories pictures. My phone is flooded with images of my work (case in point- my Instagram feed!) so I thought that it was time to step it up a little. I also knew that I wanted Julie from Magnolia + Ember to take my pictures, because she is the absolute best. She lives in just one town over and we collaborated on a few projects over the years. So, in late July, we scheduled a session at one of my favorite places – Signal Point Park. I go hiking there a lot, plus the views are incredible. Oh, and it’s only 10 minutes from my house!

I wanted to wear something long, flowy, bohemian, lacey and white (not a surprise for those who know me- ha!) so I ended up ordering this dress. Not the most practical for everyday wear, but it worked really well for the shoot. I also found a white floral crown on Amazon that I thought was really cute. Originally, I was planning on ordering a custom crown from Etsy or getting one done by a local florist, but between client work, house renovation, trying to get all the baby gear and being so pregnant….time has caught up with me, so Amazon Prime came to the rescue.

Really love how these came out (thanks, Julie!) – I am planning on printing some of my favorites and framing them! Next stop….babyland!

Xx, Marketa
