Considering that I am both an illustrator and a crafter, it may not surprise you that I love making my own cards. LOVE IT. And cards that are whimsical and funny are my mojo. My husband and I are not really big on celebrating Valentine’s day but since our first day happened to be on the day after Valentine’s, we kind of clump it all together, give each other a card and get some delicious brunch. And this is the card I am giving him this year: “Eye” Love You, made with handmade stamps. Oh, and it’s so easy to make!
You need:
Carving block (like this one) Get it online or at your local craft store.
Speedball linoleum cutters (I have this one, but there a lot of cutters out there you can use)
Plain card
Ink
Ink pen
Pencil (for outlining shapes)
Start out by cutting a piece of linoleum block. I measured mine, so it would be the same width as my card. I drew out three eye balls in a row and carved around them. Remember, the carved space will be the “negative” (=empty) space.
Now use it as a regular stamp.
I ended up writing “Eye” Love You in the middle, since there was a little space there. But I think it would look fabulous as a message inside the card, too.
Will you make your Valentine’s Day card, too? Xx, Marketa
P.S. “Eye” love you, guys!
Wow, this is such a creative card…I love it!
Thank you, Valerie! Xx, Marketa
I just got into stamping fairly recently but have yet to make any of my own! This is such a sweet idea for a card. I’m not really much into Valentine’s day either but this is the perfect sentiment.
I’m excited for your emails too!
xx Kathryn
